Summary

The book Poppy is about a mouse named Poppy. Poppy is a very friendly character. She likes adventures and exploring new lands. Poppy and her extended mice family are very happy living at the Gray House at the edge of the Old Orchard. There is a father, mother and over 200 mice in the family. One day the father of the mice family decides they need to move to get more food and a new shelter. Poppy and her family know that there is a big house located at the other side of the forest. The house is by a barn which will provide a good food source. Poppy and her father need to ask Mr.Ocax for permission to move. Mr.Ocax is an owl. He is very mean and selfish. Poppy’s father believes that Mr.Ocax is the king of the forest and that he protects the mice from the porcupine that supposedly like to eat mice. Mr.Ocax also likes to eat mice, but only if they don’t follow his rules. At the beginning of the book Mr.Ocax eats Poppy’s friend Ragweed when they go to the hill without Mr.Ocax’s permission. Poppy was lucky and managed to escape. Poppy and her father make a journey to Mr.Ocax to ask Mr.Ocax permission to move to the New House. When they get their Mr.Ocax does not like their idea and does not allow them to migrate. Poppy thinks that Mr.Ocax must be hiding something at the New House. Poppy volunteers to go to the New House to find out what Mr.Ocax is hiding. On her dangerous journey Poppy meets a cynical porcupine named Ereth. Ereth and Poppy become friends. Ereth tells Poppy that Mr.Ocax is afraid of him and that porcupines don’t eat mice or any other meat. Ereth leads Poppy to the New House. On the roof of the New House barn there is a fake owl. She finds out that Mr.Ocax is afraid of the owl and if the mice family moved there the owl would hurt him. Poppy later finds a porcupine quill and battles Mr.Ocax. Poppy barely manages to kill him after stabbing him in the leg. Read the book to find out if Poppy and her family move to the New House.

Recommendations

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves animals. This book is all about animals and there are no human characters in it. The animals in this book are able to speak and interact with each other just like humans do. I like how this book is very easy to understand. It does not have many difficult words in it and the story is easy to follow. Overall, I really like this book and it is one of the best books I have ever read. I hope everybody reads this book and enjoys it as much as I did.

Summary

This book is about a mouse named Poppy. She lives in a place where it is said to be ruled by Mr.Ocax, a horned owl. When Poppy and her boyfriend, Ragweed, go onto Bankok hill without asking permission, Ragweed is eaten. When Poppy's family wants to move to New house, Mr.Ocax does not approve. He says it's because Poppy and Ragweed didn't ask permission to be on Bankok Hill, but Poppy knows that it's something else that he's trying to keep them from finding out. When Poppy sets out to New House, she meets a porcupine. Mr.Ocax says that porcupines are supposedly the ones that eat the mice, but then, Poppy finds out that porcupines are vegetarians. She asks the porcupine, Ereth to help her find a way to New House. Then Poppy has to battle Mr.Ocax.

Recommendations

I recommend this book to mostly anyone that wants to. I personally didn't like it very much but that doesn't mean you won't.
